Introvert-turned-educator Can Yao has made it his mission to introduce a fresh perspective on helping people reach their fitness goals on a personal level. He firmly believes that in today’s world, while there is a wealth of great information available, it can often feel overwhelming—especially if there isn’t a clear way to integrate it into your training. That’s where Takumi System comes in: with the purpose of making the complex digestible while delivering the results you’ve been searching for.

By following the principles of exercise science and human psychology, Takumi System aims to provide you with a personal experience unlike any other—one that effectively produces results and ends your search for the perfect program to achieve your goals.

My Story

My journey into fitness started long before I became a coach. Growing up, I was a shy kid who struggled to express myself. Confidence didn’t come easily, and I often felt misunderstood, which led me down some difficult paths. One day, on my way home, I stumbled across a gym. Curious and looking for change, I decided to step inside. That single decision changed my life.

I’ve gone through every phase of fitness: starting as a clueless beginner who thought bicep curls were the key to everything, to becoming a national-level powerlifter ranked among the top. Along the way, I discovered not just physical strength, but also a deeper understanding of myself.

​

That transformation inspired me to help others uncover their potential, and it’s what led to the creation of Takumi System. I understand the confusion that comes with endless advice and information in the fitness space as a fitness professional. That’s why I’ve dedicated myself to providing a personal, results-driven approach that’s tailored to your goals. Whether you’re looking to build strength, improve overall health, or achieve a specific milestone, I’m here to simplify the journey and deliver results you’ve never experienced before.

While I’m still an introvert at heart, I stand fully behind the service I offer. My commitment is to ensure that partnering with me as your coach is a decision you won’t regret.

"Honestly, I don’t know what to say, but I can tell you my journey with Can Yao. I’ve always had a passion for powerlifting since high school, and it was a goal of mine and an old friend’s to compete in a meet. I only knew to just go lift heavy every day despite everything else, but eventually, I found myself burning out and fatigued. I met Can Yao, and seeing how someone who I believed was similar to me had achieved what I’d always dreamed of made me reach out for coaching. It was definitely a leap of faith, but one that I knew, with the way he was always down to earth and very articulate in his coaching, I didn’t have any doubts about. I suffered minor injuries here and there early on: disc herniation, sciatica, and all sorts of knee issues, a lot of them. Even though I myself am a physical therapist, having Can Yao with me by my side always helped me organize, create plans, and figure out how to get out of these temporary low points and keep progressing in my lifts long term. I’m honestly not a strong willed person when it comes to failure, mistakes, or injuries, but coaching honestly helped me change my viewpoint on these aspects. I’ve come to understand that they’re just part of my journey and something I can learn from. Oh, and I competed twice, making it to regionals. Both were awesome."
